Rediscounting is defined as the process by which a financial institution that holds a bill endorses and transfers the rights inherent in the bill to the People’s Bank of China prior to the bill’s maturity date. The central bank subsequently deducts a predetermined interest amount and remits the agreed amount to the bill holder.
