Product Definition
Import collection is an international settlement method where Harbin Bank, upon the authorization of the remitting bank, presents the documents to the payer and requests payment or acceptance based on the documents.
Product Classification
Import collection can be divided into two methods: Documents Against Payment (D/P) and Documents Against Acceptance (D/A).
Product Features
1. As an importer, you are in a favorable position in international trade, as there is no risk of the exporter delaying shipment after receiving advance payment.
2. Under D/P terms, you can confirm with the shipping company that the goods have arrived at the port before making payment to release the documents, preventing a situation where only documents are received without the goods.
3. Under D/A terms, you can inspect the goods first to ensure quality before making payment, and you can take delivery and sell the goods first, then make payment after receiving the sales proceeds, essentially conducting a "no-cost business" based on your commercial credit.
Applicable Clients
1. Importers who wish to pay exporters in a way that is simpler and more cost-effective than using a letter of credit.
2. If importers have sufficient working capital, the D/P method can be used. However, if importers lack working capital and require financing convenience from the exporter, but maintain a strong cooperative relationship with the exporter, the D/A method may be employed.
Application Conditions
1. Enterprises that are legally registered with a valid business license, having undergone annual inspections or possessing other valid documentation that verifies their legal operations and defined scope of business activities, and listed in the company registry.
2. Enterprises with strong credit standing and a genuine, legal, and compliant trade background.
3. Under D/P terms, you must submit: payment vouchers and relevant transaction documents to the bank.
4. Other conditions as required by Harbin Bank.
Processing Procedure
1. After preparing and shipping goods, the foreign exporter submits the relevant documents to their bank for collection.
2. The exporter's bank sends the collection documents to Harbin Bank, which notifies the importer to make payment (D/P) or acceptance (D/A) according to the instructions.
3. After the importer pays or accepts through Harbin Bank, the bank releases the documents to the importer.
4. Under D/A terms, after the acceptance matures, the importer makes payment to the exporter through Harbin Bank.
