Product Definition
Import collection is an international settlement method where, authorized by the remitting bank, HarbinBank presents documents to the payer and requests payment or acceptance.
Product Classification
Import collection can be divided into two methods: Documents Against Payment (D/P) and Documents Against Acceptance (D/A).
Product Features
1. As an importer, you hold a favorable position in international trade because there is no risk of the exporter delaying shipment after receiving advance payment.
2. Under D/P terms, you can confirm with the shipping company that the goods have arrived at the port before you pay to release the documents. This prevents a situation where you receive documents without the goods.
3. Under D/A terms, you can inspect the goods first to ensure quality before making payment, and you can take delivery and sell the goods first, then make payment after receiving the sales proceeds, essentially conducting a "no-cost business" based on your commercial credit.
Applicable Clients
1. Importers who wish to pay exporters in a way that is simpler and more cost-effective than using a letter of credit.
2. For importers with sufficient working capital, D/P is a viable method. Conversely, if importers lack working capital and need financing from the exporter, the D/A method can be considered, particularly if they have a strong, trusting relationship with the exporter.
Application Conditions
1. Enterprises that are legally registered with a valid business license, having undergone annual inspections or possessing other valid documentation that verifies their legal operations and defined scope of business activities, and listed in the company registry.
2. Enterprises with strong credit standing and a genuine, legal, and compliant trade background.
3. Under D/P terms, you must submit: payment vouchers and relevant transaction documents to the bank.
4. Other conditions as required by Harbin Bank.
Processing Procedure
1. After preparing and shipping goods, the foreign exporter submits shipping documents to their bank for collection.
2. The exporter’s bank forwards the collection documents to HarbinBank, which then notifies the importer to make payment (D/P) or acceptance (D/A) as instructed.
3. Upon payment or acceptance by the importer via HarbinBank, the bank releases the documents to the importer.
4. Under D/A terms, after the acceptance matures, the importer makes payment to the exporter through Harbin Bank.
